Author Guidelines

IJPES Author Guidelines

The International Journal of Power and Energy Systems (IJPES) uses this OJS portal for manuscript submission, peer review, revisions, and editorial decisions. ACTA Press handles final manuscript preparation, copyediting, proofs, and publication outside OJS.

1. Originality and suitability

Submit work within the journal’s power and energy systems scope. The manuscript must not be under consideration by another journal, and all authors must approve the manuscript and its submission.

ACTA Press considers original research, surveys, tutorial papers, and extended and enhanced conference papers. For a conference-paper extension, cite and provide the earlier paper and explain the additional contribution to the editor. Acknowledge previously published material and obtain any necessary permissions.

2. Prepare your manuscript

  • Submit initial and revised manuscripts as Microsoft Word files (.doc or .docx). Use the ACTA Press initial manuscript template (.docx).
  • Use English with British or Canadian spelling and a single-column, double-spaced, 12-point layout.
  • Include the title, abstract, keywords, introduction, main text, conclusion, and references.
  • Title: no more than 300 characters. Abstract: no more than 300 words. Keywords: no more than five.
  • Number references in citation order and use square-bracket citations, for example [1]. Follow the initial submission checklist for references, headings, equations, tables, and figures.

3. Upload the three required files

  1. Anonymized Manuscript: Remove author names, affiliations, email addresses, biographies, identifying acknowledgements, and other identifying information. Check document properties, comments, tracked changes, and filenames for identifying details.
  2. Cover Page: Upload a separate Word file containing the manuscript title and abstract, each author’s name, title and affiliation, and the corresponding author’s contact details. Include funding, competing interests, and any identifying acknowledgements.
  3. Paper Submission Checklist: Upload the completed ACTA Press checklist. Download the fillable checklist (PDF).

Keep author-identifying information out of every file shared with reviewers. Upload relevant supplementary material separately and choose the correct component for each file.

4. Enter authors and manuscript details

Enter every author in the correct order in OJS and identify the corresponding author. Contributor details must match the Cover Page. Select 2–5 categories that describe the manuscript. For more than ten authors, or if author details cannot be entered accurately, contact journals@actapress.com before submitting. Do not omit authors to satisfy a software limit.

5. Provide funding and competing-interest declarations

  • Funding: Identify funding sources and grant numbers on the Cover Page. If none applies, state “No external funding.”
  • Competing interests: Complete the required Competing Interests field for each author under Contributors, and include the declaration on the Cover Page. If none applies, state “The authors declare no competing interests.”

Keep identifying funding and declaration details out of files shared with reviewers.

6. Suggest reviewers

Suggest two independent potential reviewers for each new submission. Provide each person’s full name, affiliation, relevant expertise, and verifiable email address. Avoid anyone with a relationship or competing interest that could affect impartial review. Editors independently verify and select reviewers; suggestions do not guarantee an invitation.

7. Peer review and decisions

Suitable manuscripts undergo double-anonymous review by at least two independent expert reviewers. The handling Editor assesses the reports and makes a recommendation. The Editor-in-Chief (EIC) issues the final editorial decision.

8. Submit a revision

Upload the following to the existing OJS submission:

  • A clean anonymized revised Word manuscript.
  • A separate anonymized Response to Reviewers addressing every editor and reviewer comment. Number the responses, identify changes, and explain suggestions not adopted.
  • A manuscript with changes clearly marked, with identifying document properties removed.

Do not create a new submission unless the editor specifically instructs you to do so.

9. After acceptance

ACTA Press will provide instructions for the final identified manuscript, biographies, figures, applicable publication documentation, and proofs. These activities take place outside OJS. Do not include author biographies or photographs in review files.

Existing Editorial Manager manuscripts: Continue their reviews and revisions in Editorial Manager; do not create duplicate OJS submissions.

Submission Preparation Checklist

For this submission, I confirm that:

1. Guidelines: My submission follows the IJPES Author Guidelines and the ACTA Press initial submission checklist.

2. Originality: The work is not under consideration by another journal. Earlier conference publications or related manuscripts have been disclosed, cited appropriately, and accompanied by an explanation of the additional contribution.

3. Author approval: All listed authors have approved the manuscript and this submission.

4. Manuscript format: The anonymized manuscript is a Word file (.doc or .docx) in single-column, double-spaced, 12-point format.

5. Anonymity: I have checked author names, affiliations, biographies, acknowledgements, document properties, comments, tracked changes, and filenames for identifying information.

6. Required files: I will upload the Anonymized Manuscript, a separate identifying Cover Page, and the completed Paper Submission Checklist.

7. Metadata limits: The title has no more than 300 characters, the abstract has no more than 300 words, and I will supply no more than five keywords.

8. Contributors and categories: I will enter all authors accurately in the correct order, identify the corresponding author, and select 2–5 relevant categories.

9. Declarations: I will identify funding sources and grant numbers on the Cover Page, or state “No external funding.” I will provide a declaration in each contributor’s required OJS Competing Interests field and on the Cover Page, or state “The authors declare no competing interests.”

10. Reviewer suggestions: I will suggest two independent potential reviewers with verifiable contact details.

11. Presentation and permissions: References, figures, tables, and equations have been checked, and necessary permissions for third-party material have been obtained.

12. Publication process: I understand that OJS manages submission and review, and ACTA Press handles production and publication outside OJS after acceptance.

Articles

This section receives manuscripts for the International Journal of Power and Energy Systems (IJPES).

The Managing Editor performs initial checks for completeness, an abstract of no more than 300 words, selection of 2–5 categories, the required files, a funding declaration on the Cover Page (including “No external funding” where applicable), and a competing-interest declaration in OJS and on the Cover Page. Submissions also undergo an editorial assessment for journal scope, originality, and suitability for peer review. Suitable manuscripts undergo double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent expert reviewers. The handling Editor evaluates the reviewer reports and makes a recommendation. The Editor-in-Chief (EIC) issues the final editorial decision.

The abstract must not exceed 300 words. Authors must follow the IJPES Author Guidelines and upload an anonymized manuscript, a separate identifying Cover Page, and the completed initial submission checklist.

This OJS portal manages submission, peer review, revisions, and editorial decisions. Following acceptance, ACTA Press manages final manuscript preparation, copyediting, proofs, and publication outside OJS.

Privacy Statement

Information entered in this portal is used to administer IJPES submissions, peer review, editorial decisions, and the subsequent ACTA Press publishing process.

Submission information is accessed by authorized editorial staff and, where necessary for assessment, assigned reviewers. For double-anonymous review, author-identifying information is withheld from reviewers, and reviewers’ identities are withheld from authors, subject to the journal’s review procedures.

Following acceptance, relevant manuscript files and author information are used by ACTA Press for production and publication outside OJS.
